Football FanCast brings you the latest Tottenham Hotspur transfer round-up as they aim to improve their squad over the summer.
Ange Postecoglou will likely have been disappointed in the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League, with the Lilywhites’ late-season form seeing Aston Villa sneak in with a game to spare.
Nevertheless, with more games in Europe next season and the need to improve on their showing in 2023/24, key additions over the next few weeks will be paramount.
Here is the latest on Spurs’ reported transfer targets, as well as confirmed incomings and outgoings at Hotspur Way.
Latest Spurs transfer rumours
Transfers in
Baris Yilmaz: The Turkey star is a concrete target for Spurs, who will look to progress negotiations once the European Championship comes to a conclusion. They will reportedly face competition from Manchester United and Brighton for Yilmaz’s signature, with his performances in Germany sure to hike up his asking price – which currently stands at around £24m.
Michael Kayode: Spurs have reportedly had an initial £17m bid for Michael Kayode rejected by Fiorentina. The good news is that the Conference League finalists value him at £21m, so Spurs shouldn’t have to push much more to do business with the Serie A club.
Brahim Diaz: Tottenham have made “an initial approach” for Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz. It appears that they sense an opportunity to bring the Moroccan to N17 following the recent attacking arrivals at Madrid – including Kylian Mbappe.
Albert Gudmundsson: The Iceland striker, currently at Genoa, is being eyed by some of Europe’s top clubs this summer, with Spurs thought to be leading the race. While Serie A champions Inter are thought to be rivalling them for Gudmundsson’s signature, his £30m asking price could price the Nerazzurri out, potentially giving Tottenham the upper hand.
Youssouf Fofana: Another race in which Spurs apparently find themselves in pole position is the one to sign Youssouf Fofana from Monaco. North London rivals Arsenal, as well as Manchester United and Juventus, are all in the hunt for the Frenchman this summer. Despite the rush for his services, Spurs have been named as favourites in Italian media.
Joan Garcia: Spurs are thought to be looking for solid competition for Guglielmo Vicario this summer, and have highlighted Espanyol Joan Garcia as a potential target. Spanish media has claimed that among the teams in for his signature, Spurs are the team “most tempting” for the goalkeeper, who has a release clause of €25m (£21.2m).
Transfers out
Sergio Reguilon: The Spanish full-back looks set to finally depart Spurs for good this summer, following recent loan spells at Brentford and Manchester United. The Red Devils are among those potentially eyeing a bid for Reguilon, with West Ham United and Juventus also thought to be interested.
Emerson Royal: Reports in Italy have claimed Emerson Royal has agreed a deal in principle to join Milan ahead of the new season. However, the Rossoneri still need to settle on a fee for the Brazilian, with differences in valuation between themselves and Tottenham, who are looking to recoup north of £20m for their defender.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: The Dane is reportedly keen to leave the club this summer, with Borussia Dortmund one of his potential suitors. However, BVB only currently see him as a backup to Brighton’s Pascal Gross, who remains top of their wishlist. The midfielder is still at Euro 2024, where his Germany knocked out Hojbjerg’s Denmark at the last-16 stage.
Richarlison: Reports in the last week in Italy have claimed that Richarlison was part of a player-plus-cash offer from Spurs to Newcastle as they seek to add Alexander Isak to their squad. Newcastle rejected this bid, but this surely poses questions over the Brazilian’s long-term future in north London.
Latest Spurs transfers 2024/25
Spurs have made arguably the biggest deal of the window so far, bringing in Leeds starlet Archie Gray to the club for £30m. They had previously seen off the likes of Barcelona for the signature of Lucas Bergvall in what is a promising start to their summer business.
There have been plenty of outgoings as well, with Eric Dier and Ivan Perisic seeing their January moves being made permanent, while Joe Rodon has also signed permanently with Leeds United following a fine season at Elland Road. Ryan Sessegnon and Japhet Tanganga are among those to be released upon the expiry of their contracts.
