Manchester United are now open to the idea of selling a £150,000-a-week earner during the summer transfer window, according to a new report.
Man Utd transfer news
While the January transfer window wasn’t a busy month for the Red Devils, it will have been seen as another productive transfer window under INEOS, as they moved players on who may not have a long-term future at the club and brought in young, hungry talents, as they did during the summer transfer window.

Man Utd’s answer to Saka: Amorim must promote “explosive” teenager
Man Utd could save themselves millions by unleashing an explosive young academy star.
United are trying to get away from buying the more expensive, senior players that they have targeted in recent years and instead bring in players who have huge potential and could become the future stars of Old Trafford. Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven were brought in last month, and United already have their eyes on the next young talents.
United are continuing to be linked with a move for Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP, with a deal expected to cost in the region of £30 million, and the Premier League side already doing the groundwork on a potential deal.
Furthermore, Ruben Amorim’s side are also among the teams chasing Chris Rigg from Sunderland and have been long-term admirers of Southampton’s Tyler Dibling. But while arrivals will be at the top of the agenda for United come the summer, more exits will also be on the cards as they look to raise funds.
Man Utd may now sell £150k-p/w defender
According to GIVE ME SPORT and Dean Jones, Man United could look to sell Luke Shaw at the end of the season, given his recent injury problems.
Jones has stated that the Englishman’s future at Old Trafford is uncertain, following a lack of game time in the last 18 months to two years and because of the arrival of Dorgu, who is going to be a key player under Amorim. Shaw is seen as someone who can provide cover for Lisandro Martínez, but United are not putting any long-term expectations on his future at the club, as they are open to potential offers come the summer.
The 29-year-old, who earns £150,000 a week at Old Trafford, has played just three times for the Red Devils this season, twice in the Premier League and once in the Europa League. All three appearances have come from the bench, with his last start for the club coming in the win over Luton Town back in February 2024.
Shaw, who has been labelled a “top top player” by Amorim this season, has seen his injury problems mount up in the last 18 months, but he was able to be fit in time to participate in Euro 2024 for England, something that probably shouldn’t have been allowed to happen, given he has struggled for fitness since.
The defender now finds himself fighting against fresh opposition in the form of Dorgu for the left wing-back spot at United and, given Amorim wanted to complete the deal for the Denmark international, Shaw could be a player United look to get off the wage bill before his contract expires in 2027.
