Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is now determined to sign “the best striker in the world” this summer, having made him the priority target in attack, according to a report.
Man Utd keen on a striker
Although Man United are 14th in the Premier League table, there is still an expectation they will be able to attract some of the best players in the world this summer, given the size of the club, and they are thought to be particularly keen on a new striker.
United will have a big opportunity to sign Napoli’s Victor Osimhen in the summer, with the Nigerian’s £100m release clause set to drop to £62m, but there has not been a concrete approach made for the 26-year-old thus far.
Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres is another name on the Red Devils’ shortlist, with the Swedish forward potentially in line to reunite with Ruben Amorim, and the manager is also said to have personally requested the signing of his teammate, Geovany Quenda.

Kane could be “the best striker in the world”
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was full of praise for the Englishman after the Scottish side’s recent 2-1 loss against Bayern in the Champions League, saying: “In our corners, we’ve been very good normally in that, but one player you don’t leave unmarked is arguably the best striker in world football.”
The clinical striker has been in top form once again this season, scoring 21 Bundesliga goals in as many games to lead his side’s Bundesliga title charge, with Bayern now eight points clear.
Having scored 213 Premier League goals, there is little doubt Kane would be an unbelievable signing for Man United in the summer, but in truth, a move does not seem like a likely scenario.
Despite Wednesday night’s 3-2 victory against Ipswich Town, the Red Devils remain 14th in the table, with little hope of qualifying for the Champions League, and the former Spurs forward will want to be playing in Europe’s elite competition next season.
